What’s on This Week in October?

Friday Fun Night 24 Octoberchristmas-decoration-on-white-background (resized)

It’s time for another Friday Fun Night! This week children will be making Christmas decorations, gifts and cards, as well as helping with a new project: Christmas shoeboxes.

This year we will be making up gift boxes to donate to disadvantaged children and to elderly people who live alone. Children will have the opportunity to decorate a shoebox for a child, or a smaller box (from light fittings!) for an elderly person. If anyone has any spare shoeboxes then please bring them along this Friday, as so far we don’t have quite enough.

We also need Christmas paper to stick onto the boxes, so if you have some spare we’d love some for decorating the boxes.

We will need small gifts to suit a variety of ages of children, plus some for the elderly. Over the next few weeks we will be collecting these from the St Aidans congregation as well as from any Friday Fun Night families who wish to contribute.

This is the last ‘drop off and go’ Friday Fun Night for the year. At the end of November we will be holding our FFN Christmas Party, which children will be invited to attend with their parents for a shared meal followed by making Christmas decorations together.

When: 6-8.15pm Friday 19 September
Who: Primary and Intermediate school age children
Cost: $5 for dinner and activities

RSVP to kids@staidansnorthcote.org.nz to secure your child’s place before spaces fill up.

Cafe Church 19 October

This week our theme is ‘love’ and very appropriately we will be having a baptism! Meet at 9.30am for a shared breakfast/morning tea, followed by an interactive service around our cafe tables at 11am.

Focus ForwardFocus Forward Title

This Sunday is our Focus Forward, a time for everyone to gather at St Aidans to use our shared wisdom, energy and creativity to explore new pathways forward.

We will meet from 9am for a 9.30am service followed by a programme where we’ll look at where we’ve been since Refresh 2 and prioritise what’s important in how we move forward. We will conclude with communion, and finish by 3pm. This is of great importance to our community’s future, and we hope to see as many attend as possible.

Please bring something to share for lunch.
