Tomorrow night it’s our Christmas Eve service, at 7pm. We’ll be singing some carols and watching our young people’s presentation of their modern version of the Christmas story, as we mark the coming of Jesus. We’d love to see you at St Aidans for this joyous occasion.
This morning we had a full house with our Advent service combined with Roxy’s commissioning. We had a good sized contingent from Clevedon Church to hand Roxy over to our care. Mark was there from the Knox Centre to explain the process of becoming a minister. Roxy and her husband Mark were both officially welcomed to St Aidans during Roxy’s commissioning. We were fortunate to have Mark and their family play and sing with and for us. We look forward to an exciting year ahead!
Some of our young people presented ‘All Blacks and Angels’ a modern-day take on the Christmas story, illustrated by a creative PowerPoint presentation and supported by the congregation singing Christmas carols at the appropriate spots. Something a bit different, and so lovely to see youth taking the initiative in their celebration of Christmas. There will be one more opportunity to view ‘All Blacks and Angels’ at the Christmas Eve service, 7pm this Wednesday.
Cafe Church this Sunday 21 December
This Sunday 21 December is Cafe Church, our family-friendly service which starts at 9.30 am with a shared breakfast/morning tea, then the service at 10am. This month of course it’s Advent, and we’ll be watching a short Christmas play by our young people. It will also be our intern Roxy’s official commissioning.
Cafe Church is held on the third Sunday of each month, and has a focus on discussion and interaction. Toast, cereal and drinks are provided, but you are welcome to bring a plate of something tastier to share if you would like!
This Sunday is our Kids n All service, and we’ll be decorating our BIG Christmas tree as we celebrate Advent. This family-friendly service is for young and old. It starts at 10am then concludes at 11am with a cuppa and bikkies.
ARK@S is on again! On Friday 5 December we will be putting together our gift boxes for the Auckland City Mission and our elderly folk. We will cover some boxes if we don’t have enough, and pack them with our donated gifts.
Please eat dinner first, and bring along a little something sweet so we can share dessert afterwards…
Meet at St Aidans at 7pm.
