There were plenty of spring-themed crafts to do at our latest Friday Fun Night, with two types of paper flowers to make, a blossom collage and crocheted flowers. Our vegetable planting table turned out to be more popular with the adults than the children, but there’ll be lots of home veggie gardens off to a good start thanks to Cam’s kind donations! The balloon badminton and checkers are still popular – thanks to our youth for running these activities.
This Sunday 27 September is our Communion Service, beginning at 10am and followed by a cuppa at 11am. This week is a special service, with the induction of a new elder into our Community! For those who prefer a quieter, more traditional service, this is for you. Welcome!
Friday Fun Night is on again this Friday. This month the theme is spring. There’ll be spring-themed crafts, the opportunity to plant something to take home, plus the big boys will once again be running checkers and balloon badminton for those who’d like to take a break from making something!

Our annual Floral Affair concert and high tea was on Saturday, and it was a lovely occasion. Fully booked, there were twelve beautifully decorated tables for our visitors to sit at while they were entertained with a variety of musical items. At interval they enjoyed a wonderful array of cakes and savouries, made by members of our community. All this, surrounded by beautiful and creative floral arrangements!
This Sunday 20 September is Cafe Church, our family-friendly service which starts at 9.30 am with a shared breakfast/morning tea, then the service at 10am. This month the topic is Connecting with Community. Should be some interesting discussion!
Cafe Church is held on the third Sunday of each month, and has a focus on discussion and interaction. Toast, cereal and drinks are provided, but you are very welcome to bring a plate of something tastier to share if you would like!
The annual Floral Affair concert and high tea is on this Saturday, and we’ll be baking up a storm to provide a delicious afternoon tea for the concert-goers. It looks like we’ve sold out again this year, which means there’ll be plenty to enjoy the concert items and baking.
This Monday 7 September is our monthly Drop Inn Morning for residents of the Shoal Bay Villa and Regency rest homes. If anyone is able to come along and join them for a chat over morning tea it would be appreciated. It is held in the Lindesfarne Lounge (downstairs at St Aidan’s) at 10am.
Kids n All is on this Sunday 6 September, and this month we are marking Father’s Day.
Starting at 10am, our all-ages Kids n All service is great for those who like a more interactive service. It will be followed at 11am by our usual cake, cuppa and a chat. Hope to see you there!
On Tuesday is something for the adults; Come to Quiet at 7pm. This is our monthly session of contemplative prayer, which includes a short discussion on a reading, a time for fellowship with a cuppa, and of course a period of contemplative prayer. If you have never done contemplative prayer before, we will explain the basics to you before you put it into practice.
Contemplative prayer has much in common with meditation. “The root of prayer is interior silence…Deep prayer is the laying aside of thought. It is the opening of mind and heart, body and feelings-our whole being- to God…During the time of prayer we consent to God’s presence and action within…It is designed to deepen our relationship with Christ.” (Quotes from Father Thomas Keating)
Take some time out from your busy life and find some time to be still with God. You will be very welcome!
