What’s Happening this Week in September?

AGM Sunday 2 Octoberagm-2016

Friday Fun Night Photos20160923_194724

On Friday we held our ‘Spring’ Friday Fun Night. Children planted sweet peas, made tissue paper blossums for a church floral display and crocheted flowers. Lynda was back with her sewing machine so some more children got to learn how to sew by making themselves a pencil case. Floor checkers was popular, and the children just keep coming back to the balloon badminton! See our Facebook page for more photos.

Communion ServiceCommunion

This Sunday 25 September is our Communion Service, beginning at 10am and followed by a cuppa at 11am. It will be taken by Kylie Provan with Rev Carolyn Kelly officiating for Communion. For those who prefer a quieter, more traditional service, this is for you. Welcome!

Dinner Club and PlayDinner Club

Dinner Club is on again this Sunday 18 September, at 7.30pm. This time we are going to Mamak, a Malaysian restaurant in Takapuna. The address is 3/3 Northcroft Street – the restaurant is in the square between Huron and Northcroft Streets, so parking is good in either street. You can check out the menu online, but most of the mains seem to be about $15. This restaurant is licensed, but not BYO.

This month several of us are going to a play, ‘Quartet’, put on by Pilgrim Productions, in town from 4pm to 6.45pm. Options are to go to just the play, the play and meal, or just the meal.

The St Aidans Dinner Club meet up periodically for a shared meal at a local restaurant, where we order a variety of dishes (mix of mild and spicy, meat and vegetarian, as needed) and split the bill at the end of it. We often get up and change seats part-way through so we don’t sit next to the same people all night. It’s a great way of getting to know people better, and a fun way to spend the evening. Carpooling is available for those who’d like a lift.

If you would like to join in tomorrow then please contact Dale (by phone) or email kids@staidansnorthcote.org.nz) ASAP so we can book the right number of spots.

Floral Affair Photos

Today was our annual Floral Affair High Tea and Concert. The congregation stepped up as usual and provided a beautiful afternoon tea, which was enjoyed during the concert’s interval. We were surrounded by gorgeous and creative floral arrangements to the theme ‘Celebrations’. Although today’s horrible weather impacted somewhat on turnout there was still nearly a full house, and I’m sure it was well enjoyed.

For photos see our Facebook page.

Floral Affair: Celebrationsfloral-affair-2013-cropped

Our Floral Affair High Tea is on this coming Saturday, 17 September. Starting at 2pm , attendees will be treated to a concert with full high tea while seated at beautifully decorated tables in our historic church.
The music is a variety of instrumental and songs, with a long interval during which high tea is served by each table’s hostess. Our congregation always puts on a generous afternoon tea, with delicate sweet treats, savouries, and wee sandwiches galore. There are always some beautiful floral arrangements, with this year’s theme being ‘celebrations’.
This is one of our two major fundraisers for the year, and we would like to sell out the tickets, which are $25 per adult or only $5 for a child.
Please contact Dale on 418 3793 or Pat on 480 5749 for tickets.
