Joymakers is a first class group, dedicated to preserving the spirit of the joyful music of the New Orleans tradition. Their infectious music epitomises the classic style of 1920’s New Orleans. The band plays regularly around the Auckland club and hotel scene and has played at jazz festivals in Auckland and Tauranga.
This Sunday 26 July is our Communion Service, beginning at 10am and followed by a cuppa at 11am. For those who prefer a quieter, more traditional service, this is for you. Welcome!
Cafe Church 19 July
This Sunday 19 July is Cafe Church, our family-friendly service which starts at 9.30 am with a shared breakfast/morning tea, then the service at 10am. This month the topic is Disability Awareness. Should be some interesting discussion!
Cafe Church is held on the third Sunday of each month, and has a focus on discussion and interaction. Toast, cereal and drinks are provided, but you are very welcome to bring a plate of something tastier to share if you would like!
This Sunday 12 July is our service of Quiet Reflection. This is one of our more traditional services, starting at 10am and concluding with a cuppa and a chat at 11am. We’d love to see you there!
Come to Quiet – This Tuesday†7 July
On Tuesday is something for the adults; Come to Quiet at 7pm. This is our monthly session of contemplative prayer, which includes a short discussion on a reading, a time for fellowship with a cuppa, and of course a period of contemplative prayer. If you have never done contemplative prayer before, we will explain the basics to you before you put it into practice.
Contemplative prayer has much in common with meditation. “The root of prayer is interior silence…Deep prayer is the laying aside of thought. It is the opening of mind and heart, body and feelings-our whole being- to God…During the time of prayer we consent to God’s presence and action within…It is designed to deepen our relationship with Christ.” (Quotes from Father Thomas Keating)
Take some time out from your busy life and find some time to be still with God. You will be very welcome!
This Monday 6 July is our monthly Drop Inn Morning for residents of the Shoal Bay Villa and Regency rest homes. If anyone is able to come along and join them for a chat over morning tea it would be appreciated. It is held in the Lindesfarne Lounge (downstairs at St Aidan’s) at 10am.
Kids n All is on this Sunday 5 July, and this Sunday our theme is Values. Starting at 10am, our all-ages Kids n All service is great for those who like a more interactive service. It will be followed at 11am by our usual cake, cuppa and a chat. Hope to see you there!
