GREETINGS. What an eventful month we have had – so much going on and things happening. First, though, if you happened to read the Parting Thought in May – forgive the repetition – an important word was omitted: it should have read….”LIFE IS CHANGE.-.No matter what has happened in the past, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment ….and this is the moment you can choose to make everything new – RIGHT NOW! Sometimes it’s the small decisions that can change your life for ever ……….”
We send good wishes to DON, recovering in North Shore Hospital from a broken hip. We hear the healing is coming along well, Don, and you are making good progress. Thinking of you.
MARY is now back at Onewa Lodge from North Shore Hospital. Mary we are thinking of you. We know life is not easy and are thankful for the care you are receiving at Onewa Lodge.
We bade farewell to Willie Colven, dear husband of our Jimmie, at his funeral service on 26 May. Our love and sympathy go to Jimmie and her family in this time of loss.
Dalia’s Baptism on 24 May was a memorable occasion for all, especially Dalia and her family. We were reminded of our own Baptism/Confirmation and took the opportunity to join Dalia in the renewal of our own commitment and were moved by her words from the heart. We all wish her well in her future Walk. For those able to share in the Sharrock family’s travels to Ethiopia and Egypt, in the evening, it was a fitting conclusion to an eventful day.
The Congregational Meeting also held on the 24th saw the nomination and election of the Ministry Settlement Board as well as the nomination of four new Elders, to be ordained and inducted at a later date.
BIRTHDAYS – Late entry for May: Yes, we do have important people with birthdays in May and apologise for the omission: Belated good wishes to Christina and Paul, both celebrated in May, and we sang to Roxy on the 8th.
WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES – again Belated good wishes to Tim & Andrea; John & Fiona. We trust you celebrated in good style.
OUR JUNE BIRTHDAYS: Happy Birthday to Margaret; Fiona; Linda; Gerald; Shona; Dalia, Barbora & Edmund.
WEDDING ANNIVERSARY : Congratulations to Fleur and Alf.
NORTH ART – did you manage to view the Photographic exhibition recently in Northcote? This was an exhibition by Lithuanian photographers featuring worldwide modes of transport and was arranged by Dalia. Not only did she host the Opening, but she and Gerald provided accommodation for the visitors as well.
A small but important function in Northcote in May was the ‘naming ceremony’ of the two shared accommodation houses in Tonar St, now almost eighteen months old. The ladies from both houses combined their celebration and invited several members of the Trust to lunch while the specially designed house names were placed near the front doors – “Sunrise House” and “Donemovin’”. It was a happy occasion (in sunshine), conveying thanks to the Board of volunteers for their foresight and hard work.
PLEASE REMEMBER to mark your calendar for the JAZZ CONCERT on SATURDAY 25 JULY at 2 PM
DON’T FORGET To offer your help with the TEA ROSTER, CLEANING ROSTER or the FLOWER ROSTER
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO KEEP THE COMMUNITY OF ST. AIDAN’S going.
If the sight of blue skies fills you with joy
If a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you
If the simplest things of nature have a message that you understand
REJOICE, FOR YOUR SOUL IS ALIVE!
Go well and safely, Edith.
