Keeping you Informed – October 2014

Focus Forward – Sunday 12 October

We encourage you to come to Focus Forward as we map our way into the next couple of years. Everyone’s ideas and opinions are valued. So, if you have been at St Aidans for a long time or if you are new to our community, please come and be part of this day.  “Our Focus Forward is an opportunity for you to be present and make your unique contribution to our community life and mission.”-Alf’s Encouragement for the Journey 28 Sept.

If you need more information please talk to your elder or Alf.

Intern Update

Our application to have an intern is still under consideration. We will let you know as soon as we can as to whether we will have an intern for 2015.

Policy Manual

Bruce Hay is compiling an extensive manual that incorporates all kinds of information pertaining to St Aidans – from where to find light bulbs and toilet paper to how the envelope system works to the functions and responsibilities of Church Council and much more. It is a huge task and Bruce has put a lot of time and effort into this project and we thank him very much.

Moderator’s Survey

27 people participated in the Moderator-designate’s opinion poll on leadership and sexuality. The results, in order of most preferred to least preferred, were:

  1. Allow for local policy
  2. Rescind our Church’s current position
  3. Do not debate further
  4. Seek a national way forward
  5. Set clear standards

Hospital Chaplaincy

St Aidans’ next duty at North Shore Hospital is on Sunday 26 October (Labour Weekend). Please talk to Mary Boyd if you would like to help.
