Stated Supply Minister
Our latest communication with Rev Dr Hilary Oxford Smith gives her date of arrival in New Zealand as 9/10th November. We are disappointed that this is later than we expected. However, we plan to officially welcome her to Community of St Aidans at our Café Service on November 20th. There is a possibility that a suitable house in Birkenhead may be available from someone who attends Saint George’s, Takapuna, and this is being followed up.
A combined Overture from Northern Presbytery and Saint Aidans has been written and sent to General Assembly office, asking that Church Property Trustees amend their policy on earthquake prone buildings in line with Government legislation. This will be presented to General Assembly in Dunedin in November. Thank you to all who have been involved in working on this.
A Working Bee for the Church grounds has been planned for Saturday September 10th, starting at 9.30. All are welcome to come and help, and food for morning tea will be gratefully accepted. This should have the gardens looking good in time for Floral Affair on September 17th. Please note the dates in your diary.
St Aidan’s AGM for 2016 will be held after a shortened worship service on Sunday October 2nd. AGM booklets should be available two weeks before this.
All Saints High School in Tamil Nadu
Fund raising at Café Church services has already raised over $600 for this school in India. It is hoped that we can bring this up to $1,000 by the end of the year, and the money will then be sent to the school. You can put something in the jar at Café Church, or put a marked envelope with a donation into the collection plate. Thank you.
