As things begin to settle into a routine now that we have returned after our French Adventure we have become aware of a number of things concerning the Community of St Aidans.
The first is the wonderful feeling of ‘belonging’. Our welcome back has been into open arms – literally – of friends within our Community. The hugs and handshakes that we received on our return have been warm and welcoming. We know we are home. We would like to thank Alf and all those who welcomed us back ‘officially’ at Cafe Church. It was fitting that the theme that Sunday was ‘Being Thankful’. We are truly thankful for being able to belong to this Community.
The second thing we have observed has been growth and expansion of our Community. New faces, new friends. The formation of Cafe Church and another All Age service. For us this is a sign of moving forward and being able to step out in faith into something new. We also rejoice in the way Friday Fun Nights has grown. The number of children and the number of St Aidans people becoming involved in this monthly event shows that this step into the wider community is having dividends. For those coming into our Community (children and their parents) it shows that the Church is people; for those who help it is a way of showing faith in action.
It is also been very rewarding for us to see how others have stepped up into roles that we left on our move to France and how well everything is working. Again we are thankful to be part of the team that is the Community of St Aidans.
We are very glad to be back again and to be part of this Community.
