Encouragement for the Journey
Greetings Fellow Traveller,
At home last Wednesday morning, I took out my laptop from its carrier bag, and discovered I had inadvertently left its power lead in my office here at St Aidans. There was a small percentage of power left in the battery I used it for a little while and then it had no power left. It was unable to be used for what it was made for.
This simple story, may be a metaphor for how we live our lives. Sometimes we are running on empty, we have given out of our inner reserves of energy (power). Our batteries have run down, and we have nothing left, we are no longer able to function healthily in life giving ways, seeking to make a difference for good in the lives of others.
Just as my lap top had lost its power connection lead, so we, when we are running on empty we too have lost our connection with ourselves and ultimately with God.
There are many reasons for this loss of connection. Some are more obvious i.e. we are not taking enough time for self care, while others are more subtle and require us to be honest with ourselves to ascertain just what may be driving us to live in such a way that is causing us to lose connection with our power source, namely our relationship with ourselves in whom is the power of loving energy, the deposit from the one we name as God.
May you have courage,
a renewal of hope,
a resurgence of faith
