Encouragement for the Journey
Greetings fellow traveller,
This Sunday is our first Kids N All for the year. Our theme for today is: CELEBRATION.
Celebrating is at the core, the very heart of what it means to be human. Martin Luther, a leader of the Protestant Reformation, writes in his book: Table Talks, ‘Our loving God wills that we eat, drink and be merry’
Yes there are moments for celebration, the birth of a New Born Baby, Birthdays, a New Year, Christmas, Weddings and their anniversaries to name a few. These are what we may call the ‘big things we celebrate’ but what about the ‘the little things’ which in their own way, offer moments for celebration.
The world, indeed life itself, is ever present waiting for our awareness and appreciation of its wonder and beauty. We may say it is longing for our recognition and celebration of its presence. This poem from Romanian playwright Eugene Ionesco, expresses this so well:
of green lettuce,
golden grapes, and
purple egg plants –
all so extraordinary!
You get excited,
you talk to people
and people talk to you.
All this is magical,
Go well in moments of celebration
