Sing hey for the moon and starry sky
The river, the wood and the sea.
For the fish and birds and animals all,
And the grass so green on the lea.
But most of all for the holly so red
And lights on the Christmas tree.
Sing hey for the chimney and the rooftop wide
Sing hey for the walls and the floor
For the warmth of the fire on the glowing hearth
And a welcoming open door.
And most of all for peace and goodwill
And the joy that we all share.
Sing hey for the friends afar and near
Sing hey for the first and the last
Sing hey for the guests all gathered here
Today and in ages past.
Sing hey for the love of our hosts
That holds us all forever fast.
Sing hey for God who fashioned us
And this beautiful earth
Sing hey for courage, wisdom, love,
For beauty, for healing and mirth.
But most of all for the precious Christmas child
As we celebrate His birth.
